The Masonic Hall, Cardiff and music and the freemasons - buffet event

A very special occasion for members and friends: post holiday buffet evening at Cardiff’s Masonic Hall. A guided tour of this unique building followed by a finger buffet supper accompanied by a talk by Simon Rees, Welsh National Opera dramaturg on the Masons and music. Two special events together.

Simon ReesSimon Rees Dramaturg of Welsh National Opera since 1989, editing programmes, researching productions and translating libretti. After studying English at Cambridge, taught for two years in Italy and for three at Kyoto University. Has published novels, poetry, translations of works of art history and reviews of books on music - recently wrote libretti for children’s opera and oratorio with Welsh composer Mervyn Burtch.

Cardiff Civic Society is a membership organisation and charity that aims to conserve, sustain and develop the natural and built environment of the city for the benefit of current and future generations.

It is a charity whose objects are improving the built and natural environment of the city. Its role is to provide information and support, research and debate and, where necessary, to lobby local authorities, government and private interests to ensure the achievement of its aims.
